Buying guide
What a men's diamond ring costs in India
Fourteen rings, four budget tiers, and one fact that surprises most first-time buyers: about half of what you pay is gold, not diamond.
What does a men's diamond ring actually cost?
True Diamond's men's range runs from ₹59,888 to ₹2,74,127. The entry point for a ring with an actual diamond in it is ₹63,760, and the practical middle of the market sits between ₹80,000 and ₹1,35,000.
Men's rings price differently from women's, and the reason is physical. A men's band carries far more metal. Where a women's solitaire might use 2 grams of gold, a men's ring commonly uses 4 to 8. So the gold is not a supporting cost, it is roughly half the bill, and that changes which decisions actually move the price.
Bands show where each tier sits across the range. All prices are the 14 KT starting price; every ring costs more in 18 KT and at larger sizes.
Where does the money actually go?
On a men's ring, roughly half of it goes to gold. Take Dominus at 18 KT: the gold is worth ₹45,748 and the diamond ₹43,600.
Every True Diamond product page publishes a price breakup splitting metal, diamond and making charges, which is unusual for this market and worth using. Here is that ring in full:
| Component | Detail | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | 18 KT, 3.84 g | ₹45,748 |
| Diamond | 1.09 ct, EF VVS | ₹43,600 |
| Making charges | 3.84 g | ₹7,685 |
| GST | 3 percent | ₹2,911 |
| Total at 18 KT | size 7 | ₹99,944 |
Two consequences follow, and both save money:
- Karat is the biggest lever you control. The same ring in 14 KT starts at ₹82,878 against ₹99,944 in 18 KT. That is a ₹17,000 difference for a change most people cannot see on a finished ring.
- Going up a carat costs less than you would guess. Because gold is half the bill, adding stone weight moves the total by proportionally less than it would on a women's solitaire.
What is in each tier?
Fourteen rings, priced from the 14 KT floor. Read the carat column against the price column, because they do not track each other closely.

One thing to notice before you shop by price. The cheapest ring in that table has no diamond in it. Emperor Crown is a gold men's ring, and it costs more than two rings that do carry a stone. If you are sorting a grid by price, the floor for an actual diamond is ₹63,760.
Which two rings define the range?
Dominus at ₹82,878 and Aureon Crest at ₹2,03,853. One is the point where a men's solitaire starts looking like a serious ring; the other is where it becomes the thing people ask about.

View Aureon CrestDominus is the plainer of the two by design: a heavy band, a secure head, and a 1.09 carat round doing all the work. Nothing on it needs explaining, which is exactly why it suits a first serious ring.
Aureon Crest is where the design detail lives. The 2.09 carat centre is a Portuguese cut, which carries extra rows of facets compared with a standard round brilliant, so it throws dense scattered fire rather than a few broad flashes. It sits in a four prong head raised on cathedral shoulders above a wide, flat tapered band. Turn it over and there is an open crossed gallery beneath the stone, polished on a surface most rings leave plain. The shank is stamped with its metal purity inside.

Left, the cathedral shoulders. Centre, the crossed gallery the ring is named for, on the surface nobody usually finishes. Right, the scale on a hand.
What does the step up actually buy?
About ₹1.2 lakh more for one extra carat, a rarer cut and visible gallery work. It also steps the clarity grade down, from VVS to VS, and that is not a downgrade.
Dominus is EF VVS. Aureon Crest is EF VS. Every Portuguese cut in True Diamond's catalogue is EF VS, and there is a reason: a facet pattern that dense breaks up light in a way that also conceals small inclusions. VS means inclusions are not visible to the unaided eye, and on this cut they stay invisible in places where a large open table would give them away. Paying up to VVS on a Portuguese cut buys a certificate line rather than something you could see.
The alternative worth knowing about. If carat weight is what you want at the top of the range, Ulrich Ruler 2.5 Ct starts at ₹1,91,182, which is ₹12,671 less than Aureon Crest for 0.41 more carat, in a round brilliant graded EF VVS. Aureon Crest earns its premium on the cut and the finishing, not on stone size. If those details are not what you are buying, the Ulrich is the better value.
How do you pick a tier?
Work down from karat, not up from carat. It is the decision that moves the price most and shows the least.
- Decide karat first. It is the single biggest lever on price and the hardest one to see on the finished ring. 14 KT is roughly 17 percent cheaper across this range.
- Get sized properly before you shop. A wide men's band fits tighter than a thin one at the same nominal size. If you are between sizes on a 6 to 8 mm band, go up.
- Match the stone to the band width. A heavy band swallows a small stone. Under 0.6 ct, a narrower profile reads better than a wide one.
- Ask for the cut, polish and symmetry grades from the IGI report. They are not on the listings, and on a round brilliant they matter more than a single grade of colour.
- Ignore the metal colour when comparing prices. Yellow, rose and white cost the same on every ring here. It is a taste decision, not a budget one.
